How long should my words be? A "radio compatible" song is about 3 minutes long and has about 20 to 30 lines but there are no rules written in stone.

Do I give up any rights when I submit my Poems, Song Words and Songs to Shining Star Music? No. You remain 100% owner of your words and music that you submit to us. Go to CONTACT US.
Do I need to copyright my writings before sending them? No, Professional Songwriters do not copyright every song that they write. A copyright is simply a registration of your song with the Library of Congress. If your song is not yet published, you are "self-published" and you should keep a catalog of your Lyrics and Songs. In your catalog, you should write the Date of Completion of each song lyric or song and also on a CD if you have one. You can also have a friend or relative sign and date your song catalog or CD as a witness. This should be done if you are going to play your songs in public or share them on the internet. Simple record keeping will suffice until you have a publisher or a commercial release. That is when a copyright is usually filed.
How do I complete my song? In the music industry the song is the product. You must have a complete song with music. Words alone are not accepted by Singers, Record Labels and Music Publishers. If you do not have music for your words, we can provide music for your words in any music style that you prefer (Country, Pop, Rock, Blues, R&B, Hip Hop, Rap and Christian/Gospel). We will then Professionally Record your "demo recording". The "demo", short for "demonstration recording", is how all songs are presented to Music and Entertainment Industry Professionals.
